Mark Rober is a name that probably doesn’t need much introduction, considering he’s one of the most famous YouTubers in the world, with over 60 million subscribers to his channel. A former NASA engineer, Rober recently launched an idea reminiscent of his old work, but in this case he will implement it in collaboration with Google, the American operator T-Mobile and SpaceX. Indeed, in January 2025, SpaceX will launch a satellite into orbit on behalf of Rober, with the aim of capturing selfies from space. To be precise, users will take a selfie on Earth, which will then be sent to the satellite, where a Pixel smartphone will re-immortalize it with our planet in the background. At the end, the final photo will be sent back to the sender.
Rober also says that the selfie from space can be captured while the satellite is in orbit over our city and the user will receive an alert about the exact time it will be taken, so maybe he will be able to come out and appear “technically” in the photo. . The service is limited to T-Mobile customers, at least at the time of launch, but who knows if it will expand to other carriers in the future. And with that, we can officially say that YouTuber craze has reached new heights.
