Oppo has just unveiled its new entry-level smartphone. Called A40, this mobile is therefore MIL-STD 810H certified, meaning that it is officially capable of withstanding falls against hard floors but also of operating at extreme temperatures. The phone offers a sober design with a black or white version. Its photo sensors are organized vertically with a wider plate protruding slightly from the rest of the back.
The device is equipped with an audio jack and a USB-C connector for battery charging. The latter has a capacity of 5100 mAh promising great autonomy. It supports charging at 45W (charger not included). The phone has a fingerprint reader at the sleep button.
It is powered by Android 14 with the promise of 2 years of updates for the system and 3 years for security. This is significantly less than the competition which offers at least 4 or even 6 years for Samsung mobiles, in the entry/mid-range category.
A Qualcomm chipset at the controls and a large LCD screen
The new Oppo A40 smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 processor combined with 6 GB of RAM, virtually expandable with 6 GB more, at most. The device can count on a capacity of 128 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 1 TB with the addition of a memory card. The mobile is IP54 certified, thus being able to withstand splashes but nothing more. We can count on dimensions of 165.77 x 76.08 mm for a thickness of 7.68 mm and a weight of 186 grams.
In addition, the Oppo A40 has a 6.67-inch diagonal LCD screen with a fairly low definition, 720×1604 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Oppo announces a maximum brightness of 1000 cd/m² . The phone is 4G, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 compatible. On the audio side, there are two speakers and compatibility with SBC, AAC but also AptX codecs. Finally, for photos, the phones have two sensors of 5 megapixels and 50 megapixels.
