Free will launch something new tomorrow… and we think we've guessed what it is

Leave doubt: it has almost become a tradition. Every time Free launches something new, it leaves a few clues here and there. And usually, they lead to the launch of an innovative product or service. This was also the case for the Freebox Pop, launched four years ago, whose release had the effect of a small bomb.

A new Free product will be launched this Tuesday, December 3

In a short 20-second video posted this Sunday 1is December on Free will meet us two days later, on Tuesday December 3for a surprise. And as she indicates in her publication, the brand matters “roll out the red carpet for him“.

So, can the video that accompanies this short text guide us as to what this new feature will be? Not really, and that's normal: it would be a shame to reveal everything before the official launch of what would not, however, seem to be “a new commercial offer“, according to Freebox Universe.

If the video leaves doubt, we can nevertheless see the outlines of what appears to be the Freebox Ultra, launched in January 2024, decorated with red LEDs.

This is what Free could present tomorrow

When it was launched almost a year ago, the Freebox Ultra received some criticism. And in particular on the absence of a “her” decoder. Several Freenauts were indeed disappointed not to find a new TV player in this Premium offer. Free had in fact chosen to accompany its Ultra box with the Pop decoder, which is usually offered with the Freebox Pop.

Tomorrow, Free could therefore present a brand new TV decoderwhich would thus be reserved for the Freebox Ultra and Ultra Essentiel offers. In any case, it would be a logical choice and a great novelty to end this year 2024!

But what makes us doubt is the notion “Limited edition“, indicated at the very end of the video. Would releasing a new TV decoder and not offering it to as many people as possible be well received by the Free community? Not sure…

If we therefore stick to the notion of limited edition, we could also think of an already existing Freebox but in a different version. Why not the Freebox Ultra decorated with red ? This would fit well with the omnipresent red color in the video and the message that accompanies it.”we roll out the red carpet for him“.

In short, as usual, you never know what to expect with Free and we really looking forward to discovering what the operator has in store for us to celebrate its 25th anniversary !
