If you live in China and use Nintendo services and the Switch console, you will only be able to do so for 18 months. After that you will have to find something new.

Here’s what we know

On March 31, 2026, the Chinese Nintendo eShop will no longer sell games or any other software. All apps, including free and paid games, will no longer be available for purchase or use.

Starting May 15, 2026, players will no longer be able to download games or redeem codes.

However, to make things better, from November 27, 2024 to March 31, 2026, players who own a Chinese Nintendo Switch console and have an active WeChat account will receive up to 4 Nintendo Switch games for free. The following games are available to choose from:

  • New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Mario Party
  • Mario Aces
  • Yoshi’s Crafted World
  • The flexible brain school
  • Brain exercises from Dr. Kawashima
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • New Pokémon Snap
  • Pokémon Go ! Pikachu
  • Pokémon Let’s Go ! Eevee
