SEGA finally tells us about its next big game, the grand return of one of its flagship series that has disappeared for too long.

If we tend to think that SEGA only lives for Sonic, which is not entirely false either, we tend to forget that the company has a portfolio of licenses as long as the arm. It’s just that it is not fully exploited and that many licenses have fallen into oblivion, or almost, since fans never forget them. Fortunately, SEGA has launched a seduction and dusting operation. While rummaging through its boxes, the firm came face to face with very popular franchises that it has finally decided to restore. One of them was revealed recently and it promises to be great!

A cult license from SEGA will soon be back and is finally showing itself!

Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi… so many licenses that we haven’t seen for a while (Streets of Rage is a bit different all the same). SEGA is getting the machine going again and is going to bring us several remakes and other new games. A short while ago, we were talking to you about the leaks concerning Jet Set Radio. Now, it’s Crazy Taxi that is coming to you, but it’s official this time, and the news is good.

SEGA recently shared a video, a sort of development diary, in which the team in charge of the next installment of the franchise tells us about some of the new features. As many had already implied more or less explicitly, the new Crazy Taxi game will be presented as a fully multiplayer open world. Certainly a service game, by the way. We don’t know much yet about what the game will really have in store for us, but we can still see some gameplay footage during the video (starting at 1:45 in the video). The fun and arcade orientation seem to be still there with, once again, stunts and chases. This time, it could also be that the police will be controlled by the players, which will really spice up the races.

An open-world, multiplayer-focused Crazy Taxi

The developers have also stated that if they sought realism to design the environment, fun and freedom would also be at the heart of the level design. A city that we are promised to be gigantic and full of things to do as well. The activities should therefore be numerous, but as long as we can make crazy jumps while hurtling down the streets at full speed, we don’t ask for more.

At the moment, we don’t know when this new Crazy Taxi game will be released, but we imagine that it will at least be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Stay tuned.
