The recent electricity price increases have obviously not left us indifferent! How can we be when our bills are soaring and we have no choice but to pay them straight away? On July 1st, it is the turn of natural gas to increase by 11.7%, as explained by the Public Service. If, like me, you have a gas boiler, which therefore consumes electricity and gas, you are probably thinking about other solutions. For example, you could consider buying a Plug & Play photovoltaic panel kit. Right now, Brico Dépôt stores are offering a 460 Wc model, at a price of only €499*. I’ll show you how it works, but if you’re interested, you shouldn’t hesitate too long, as stocks** don’t last forever. Let’s discover.

Un kit Plug & Play de 460 Wc

The Plug & Play self-consumption photovoltaic kit therefore offers a total power of 460W distributed over two solar panels to be placed on the ground, on the roof of a garden shed, or on a balcony. Each panel measures 144.6 cm in length, 76.5 cm in width and 3.5 cm in thickness, with a net weight of 20.5 kg. In addition, it displays an IP65 protection rating of the micro-inverter which ensures that it is weatherproof. Easy to transport, it fits in the trunk of a car and could also be used in a campsite or in a motorhome. This kit is covered by a 25-year warranty for the solar panels and 10 years for the micro-inverter. PLEASE NOTE, before connecting your kit, you will have to declare it on the Enedis website. However, this is a simple declaration, and not a request for authorization for the installation.

To be plugged into a domestic outlet

As usual, I will not go into a technical explanation that only specialists could understand. Not everyone can be a scientist! To produce electricity, solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity in the form of direct current (DC). The solar panels are connected to a micro-inverter that converts the direct current into alternating current (AC), compatible with the electrical grid. By plugging it into a simple electrical outlet, the current produced is then injected into your electrical circuitThis electricity is used primarily in your home, particularly for devices that are permanently plugged in or in operation (internet box, refrigerator, freezer, washing machine, etc.).

Why does the electricity produced take priority over that of the network?

I admit, my physics classes are a long time ago, and I don’t remember being particularly attentive to my teachers in this subject. I opted for literary studies, maybe that’s why! The consumption of electricity produced by a Plug & Play kit is, in reality, a physical principle of electricity. Indeed, as soon as electricity is injected into your domestic circuit, it is immediately available and does not need to be routed from the public network.

Electrical appliances, such as light bulbs, use electricity produced as close as possiblethus prioritizing that of the kit over that of the network. I remind you of the price of the Plug & Play kit sold at Brico Dépôt: €499*, while stocks last**. And you? Have you already opted for this solution, and reduced your electricity bill? In addition, we would be delighted to read your impressions or to know your experience on this subject. And, if you notice an error in this article, do not hesitate to let us know.
