A Morse code message has apparently been unearthed in the flamboyant remake of Silent Hill 2. It would confirm a tenacious theory about the cult game.
The developers of the remake of Silent Hill 2 Would they have had fun spreading messages everywhere? This theory is gaining more and more depth. There were already the mysterious photos, the meaning of which was discovered shortly after the game’s release (with congratulations from the studio). There is now this possible secret shared by a fan in a video published on YouTube, spotted by Eurogamer on November 23, 2024.
Internet user Shiba explains that a Morse code is broadcast by two televisions located in Brookhaven hospital (one in the cafeteria, the other in the nurses’ room). You have to strain your ears a little to hear it, because it gets lost in crackling noises. Once translated, the message would be satisfied with two words, “ And again », repeated endlessly. Which would give in French: “ Again, and again, and again, and again… »
Another secret perched in Silent Hill 2 ?
Concretely, Shiba explains: “ A message is hidden in the televisions at Brookhaven Hospital, transmitted in Morse code. The sound is muted by noise from TVs, making it difficult to hear. However, Morse code is distinct, with a clicking sound that resembles a telegraph. The heaviest click marks the start of the signal, while the softest click symbolizes the end. » In the video, he deliberately turns up the volume so that we can hear the Morse code.
The short sentence “ And Again » refers to an old theory related to the main character. Named James Sunderland and in search of his wife, supposedly dead, he would in reality be lost in a loop and would thus relive the events, again and again (the remake would then be a sort of sequel, another loop). We recall that the meaning of the photos is also based on this theory, since it gives the following sentence: “ You’ve been here for two decades » (« You’ve been here for two decades “). So there would be no escape for James — no broken fourth wall.
Note that Shiba shared another message encrypted with Morse code, this time from a television located in another location (the apartments of Wood Side). He said: “ Why did you do it James? », or « Why did you do that James? » Which refers to the hero’s guilt.
In any case, this new secret tends to prove the immense respect that the Bloober Team studio has for Silent Hill 2 original. Its remake, pilloried by demanding fans even before its release, is a true love letter, boasting an incredible gaming experience. Seeing developers support old theses with a playful method is a blessing, and Konami must surely love such care.
