The result is as breathtaking as it is unexpected, especially considering the engine that was used to create it!

The Final Fantasy VII phenomenon

Just over 27 years ago, the original version of Final Fantasy VII was released worldwide, eventually becoming one of the most popular games in the series developed by Square Enix even today. Since then, the universe of this opus has been declined through numerous games, whether on consoles with Dirge of Cerberus et Crisis Core or on mobile devices with Ever Crisisbut also in the form of films, like the incredible Final Fantasy VII Advent Children which still holds up quite well today.

But what players were really asking for was a remake with more modern 3D modeling. A wish that was granted in 2020 with Final Fantasy VII RemakeThen Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in early 2024. But know that in addition to these titles and the HD remasters offered by members of the community, there is an extremely faithful remake of the original game, and it is to a very determined fan that we owe it…

This remake was created by Jamie Colliverwhich used the level creation features offered by Little Big Planet 2the second part of the license Media Moleculeto create a platform version of Square Enix’s game. Colliver had already made headlines 12 years ago when he began documenting his work on his YouTube channel, known at the time as TheJamster1992and since renamed LittleBigWorld. On his channel, Colliver propose a playlist of 140 videos tracing the different levels of Final Fantasy VII Perfectly.

In the trailer above you can admire some of the work of Jamie Colliverwho used the Pack de Costumes Final Fantasy VII to bring his characters to life amidst settings reimagined by him, including the intro cinematic, iconic boss fights, and the ending credits. A titanic work full of nostalgia that really deserves a look!

However, even though the game is now complete after more than 12 years of hard work, it is unfortunately no longer possible to play it yourself. Indeed, the servers of the games of the license LittleBigPlanet on consoles prior to the PlayStation 4 were deactivated in 2021 after a long outage.
