Google is announcing a series of new features that will make it easier to transfer your data to a new device, whether on Android or iOS.

Transferring your personal data from an Android to another Android smartphone, or an iPhone, will become much faster. This is the promise from Google which announces four new features in this direction.

Android Switch and custom installation for everyone

The Pixel 9 introduces an optimized initial installation, which will be expanded to other Android brands from 2025. Thanks to the Android Switch application, users will be able to choose between two options: an “Express” configuration for a quick process or an installation “Customized” offering more control.

With the Express option, the app automatically imports the data saved to the cloud and collects the remaining items from the previous phone at a later time. This approach, which differs from more traditional installations, accelerates access to the new phone’s features while allowing data migration after the initial installation.

For fans of personalized options, manual installation remains available, with a detailed choice of data and applications to transfer. This flexibility is aimed at both Android regulars and new users coming from iOS.

A faster transfer and the arrival of the RCS

But the extension of Android Switch and the greater flexibility in the timing of the transfer of your data are not the only new features presented by Google. In fact, the company announces a 40% faster transfer of your data if you use a cable to switch from iOS to Android. Enough to save “several hours”, according to Google, for people who have a lot of data to transfer.
