Games like Silent Hill 2 Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor run better on the PS5 than the PS5 Pro. Technical and optimization issues have been noted by fans and Digital Foundry alike.
The PS5 Pro has been available for a few days and Sony's new console is far from attracting the favor of critics and observers. The PlayStation 5 Pro's Game Boost system fails to achieve the 45% performance increase promised by Sony. We ourselves gave the console a score of 3/5 in our test, regretting in particular its price and the graphic differences that are not always obvious with the standard PS5. And for some games, the rendering is even of lower quality on the most powerful model on paper.
Silent Hill 2 Remake players do not spare the performance of the PS5 Pro in the game. Good surprise and excellent vintage of this year 2024, the game developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami suffers from significant technical problems on PS5 Pro . The title runs more smoothly and the graphics are better on the PS5.
Silent Hill 2 Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor performance struggles on PS5 Pro
A situation that is all the more problematic as Silent Hill 2 Remake is labeled PS5 Pro-enhancedand that it is therefore supposed to be optimized to take advantage of the power of the PS5 Pro. It is likely that an update will correct the situation and that the PS5 Pro version will ultimately offer a better experience than on PS5, but this is currently far from being the case.
Another popular game not to enjoy on the PS5 Pro for now is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The Respawn Entertainment title, published by Electronic Arts, does not properly support Sony's PSSR image scaling technology, which is supposed to significantly improve the fluidity of titles without sacrificing image quality. Digital Foundry explains that the game is very unstable on PS5 Pro with PSSR, with frequent drops in definition, which can even drop to 648p, less than HD! Here too, we must hope that a corrective patch will not take long.
Fortunately, the capabilities of the PS5 Pro are clearly visible in other titles. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is probably one of the games to benefit the most, with big graphical improvements compared to the PS5. On Alan Wake 2, we do not have a Quality mode with ray tracing at 60 fps on the PS5 Pro, which may have disappointed some. But the graphical differences, particularly in terms of ray tracing, are definitely worth it, according to comparisons of Digital Foundry.
