If the presence of aircraft seemed obvious for the rest of the remake of Final Fantasy VII (for which the name of a third part is long overdue), it remained to be seen how this would be implemented in the game. Were the aircraft (and the Hautvent and priority) going to serve only as a tool of rapid travel, or would their integration be such that it would allow them to be controlled directly? This is the interesting question that many fans have been asking themselves until now, knowing that depending on the answer, the game design choices would be very different. Today, Naoki Hamaguchi provides a clear answer, and the latter implies that the team of the third opus made the choice of difficulty and fun, to the detriment of the ease allowed by the simple integration of a fast travel system .

Indeed, as part of a round table relayed by the Japanese publication 4Gamer, Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase were able to answer various questions about the next opus. Among them, the global question about the world map of FF VII Remake part 3. ” We want to let you experience the world from a higher perspective. We’re not going to cheat with the aircraft system: we’re going to make sure you can fly freely on the map » Hamaguchi was able to indicate on this subject.

Because the Highwind plays an important role in this third part, it seemed essential to let the players fly freely in the world, but this also implies many subsequent questions: how will the world map be organized? Will it be possible to land wherever you want? If not, how can we tell the player where they can go or not organically? If so, how do we deal with potential balance issues between an early game zone and an end game zone? Questions which, we hope, should all be answered in the third opus of this multi-part remake. Please note that the entire Final Fantasy VII Rebirth map will be reworked from A to Z in order to adapt to the movements permitted by the aircraft.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was released this year, on February 29, on PS5. As of yet, no PC version has been announced.
