Apple’s next VR headset would be cheaper and dependent on a connected device

While the Apple Vision Pro is about to be launched in France, a new, cheaper version is already under discussion. It would require a connected device to work.

During the keynote held on Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m. (French time), Apple announced new options for its Vision Pro headset, as well as the extension of releases in several countries, particularly in France. Two weeks after the event, rumors about a new model of the augmented reality headset are becoming clearer.

Less expensive and requiring a connected device such as iPhone or Mac, these are the words reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter about the new version of the Apple Vision Pro. The latter would have the code name N107, would cost between 1500 and 2000 euros and would be launched at the end of 2025.

Mark Gurman also suggests that the brand could remove the external EyeSight display and reduce the quality of the internal XR displays. Compromises which could allow Apple to reduce the cost of its headset knowing that the production of the screen represents an already very high investment.

But this project is quite independent of another file which concerns the successor to the Apple Vision Pro. The second version would be based on options already present on the current helmet and would still offer clear improvements. On the other hand, we will not have to wait until the end of 2026 to see the project come to fruition. Apple wants to give itself a year to design the cheapest model.

While waiting for the release of the next versions, the Apple Vision Pro will be launched in France on July 12 of this year. Prices start at 3999 euros.
