As Samsung prepares to hold a major conference on July 10, new information regarding its Galaxy Watch Ultra connected watch has emerged on the web.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra will be massive or it won’t be. During the weekend, the specialized site 91Mobiles managed to get their hands on confidential information regarding Samsung’s new high-end connected watch. The manufacturer’s Canadian site accidentally posted a page listing some of the technical characteristics of the watch.

Deleted from the web since, the page tells us that the Galaxy Watch Ultra will indeed be called… Galaxy Watch Ultra. If the name of the gadget did not raise so many doubts, this is the first time that an “official” source from Samsung has confirmed the information. For the most picky, the product reference would be SM-L705F. A code name that does not recall other products in the Samsung catalog, which would tend to confirm that the manufacturer is indeed preparing a distinct range of its “classic” Watches, the seventh generation of which is arriving soon.

47mm or nothing

As expected, the Watch Ultra should be 4G compatible to allow athletes to have a connection on their wrist and not need their smartphone to listen to music during their workouts.

But beyond these technical details, the Galaxy Watch Ultra would first and foremost be an imposing watch. As rumors in the corridors suggested, the watch will only be available in 47 mm format, unlike the Watch 7 which should be available in 40 and 44 mm. In addition to being positioned as a high-end product, the Watch Ultra will also be reserved for those who have good-sized wrists or who have no problem wearing a watch the size of their forearm .

High-end watches that are inevitably imposing

On this point, Samsung does not really stand out from Apple which also offers its Watch Ultra 2 only in 49 mm format. With both watches clearly intended to compete with each other, no surprises here. The plethora of sensors and the battery necessary for their proper functioning can, it seems, only be housed in imposing boxes.
