Well, we say it again and again, but the WhatsApp application is one of the most prolific in terms of updates. Regularly, messaging receives updates to enrich its possibilities. And so, among the new features, the application has just received an addition which will make life easier for the most active on the platform: the automatic switching of photos to HD format.
WhatsApp: Your photos automatically in HD
Already last year, WhatsApp received a life-saving update, which finally allowed the sending of photos in HD. Saving, certainly, but very poorly thought out: until now, the user had to select the shipping quality for each shared media. Well, not enough to destroy the functionality, but it still remained a slight hindrance in terms of experience. So, here’s the fixed thing. By default, all photos sent in a WhatsApp conversation are automatically set to the highest definition available.
For HD by default, here’s how to do it:
- Meet in the Settings from WhatsApp
- Select the menu of Storage and data
- Go to the section Media quality
- Make sure the option HD quality is well checked
Be careful with HD Photos!

Don’t get excited too quickly. Who says high quality, necessarily says heavier weight for the images. Thus, HD photos require more time to be shipped, but also more space on internal storage upon receipt.
