Capcom announced a new milestone in the sales of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.

Following its recent launch on PlayStation 4, the game has exceeded 2 million units sold across all platforms. Before reaching this recent milestone, sales figures were estimated at 1.9 million units sold in March 2024. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was released almost 3 years ago, in July 2021 on the console Nintendo hybrid. The first game in the spin-off RPG series, Monster Hunter Stories, was also recently released on Nintendo Switch.

Capcom’s message:

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is the second role-playing game based on the universe of the Monster Hunter series. Players take on the role of the protagonist, grandson of the legendary Monster Rider Red, who meets a Wyverian named Ena before setting off on a great adventure around the Wings of Ruin. RPG elements, such as a gripping new story about Monster Riders, helped the title garner acclaim from a wide range of players and surpass 2 million units sold. Additionally, on June 14, Capcom ported Monster Hunter Stories, the first title in this RPG series, to the current generation of consoles, while releasing Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on the PlayStation®4. Both titles are also available as an affordable bundle to allow those who have not yet played either game to enjoy both.

In addition, the Monster Hunter series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Capcom is therefore boosting promotion of the series with various events that commemorate this milestone, including a four-city tour for the Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert which began on May 11 in Japan, as well as the Monster Hunter Grand Exhibition which begins on July 19 in Tokyo, during which visitors can enjoy attractions brimming with 20 years of the series’ history.

Capcom remains firmly committed to meeting the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities to create highly entertaining gaming experiences.
