Everything that will change on WhatsApp in July

Like every month, we look at the discoveries of the WABetaInfo site to try to discover the new features that will be released on the platform this Weekend.

Transcription of voice messages

Voicemails are a somewhat controversial aspect of messaging services. We must admit that sometimes we simply don’t have the time to listen to them. So what if WhatsApp transcribed them for you? If WhatsApp has been working on this long-standing feature, it looks like things are starting to pick up. Indeed, WABetaInfo has discovered that the platform is in the process of creating a system allowing you to choose the language for this transcription. Unfortunately, at this stage, French does not seem to be available (but we can expect that to be the case at some point). And we can expect the feature to eventually arrive in the coming weeks.

Improved group calls

This is a feature that is already being deployed, but whose deployment will only be final in a few weeks. If it is therefore also a novelty for the month of June, for many, it will above all be a change for the month of July. We detail the changes that this major update will bring in this article, but overall, group calls will be able to be made with up to 32 people on computer, and screen sharing will include audio.

The ability to see all content shared in a group

WhatsApp is developing a feature for community-based chat groups. Thanks to this, it will be possible to see all the media (photos, videos, etc.) shared in community groups. But that’s not all: it would be possible to differentiate recent content from older content, which would allow faster access to the latter.

Blocking screenshots

We had already talked about it before, but it seems that this non-functionality will finally arrive in July (or even the end of June) on certain devices: to protect you, it will no longer be possible to take screenshots of your profile photos. WhatsApp contacts. But be careful: this change will probably not happen in an instant. For now, the blockage is limited to the iOS version of WhatsApp, but should extend to Android and maybe even (who knows) WhatsApp on PC.
