After the old Apple TVs, say goodbye to Netflix on these Sony Bravia TVs

At the beginning of last June, Netflix announced the scheduled end of the operation of its application on second and third generation Apple TVs. An unsurprising decision, since these models dating from 2010 and 2012 have since been replaced by more efficient and modern iterations with a proper operating system. On the other hand, the announcement which today concerns certain televisions from Sony seems more problematic.

Affected 2014 Sony Bravia TVs

Indeed, the Netflix application will stop working as of July 24 on certain 2014 Bravia televisions. A ten-year obsolescence which risks making people cringe, especially since, barring a breakdown, many users keep their television on long periods.

No explanation is provided, but we imagine that a mixture of security and features too demanding for “old” hardware is in the balance. In “due to technical limitations“, these are Sony televisions and Blu-Ray players from 2011 to 2013 which were already affected last February.

What are the solutions to continue watching Netflix?

If you are concerned, apart from changing your television (the summer sales are coming!), Sony invites you to use a multimedia streaming device to be able to continue enjoying Netflix. Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Nvidia Shield and other Amazon Fire TVs, there is something for all uses and budgets.
