WhatsApp: A new function simplifies the transfer of photos

The question of the quality of photos transmitted via WhatsApp has always been debated. The compression inherent in using the application when you want to send a good quality photo to a friend or family member has been one of the major problems encountered by the application for years. Fortunately, last year, WhatsApp started to take a step in the right direction by launching a new feature allowing HD photo sharing. In other words, from a maximum resolution of 960×1280 pixels, an HD photo shared by WhatsApp went to 3024×4032 pixels, which greatly increased its quality.

HD photos by default

This new function, although welcome, had a major flaw: it was necessary to choose between standard quality and HD quality each time a new photo was sent via WhatsApp. A particularly exhausting process if we decided to send ten at once. The good news is that the service now benefits from a new update allowing the sharing of photos in HD quality by default. To do this, simply go to the application settings, then choose the Storage and Data option. Under the Media Quality tab, an option is now available to choose sharing photos in HD by default.

Good news for all those who may have railed against the compression of photos on WhatsApp. Be careful: there will always be some, but today it is much less aggressive than in the past. Furthermore, note that with this option enabled, sharing photos should take longer, and HD photos will necessarily require more internal storage to download.
