Charlene of Monaco is no longer exactly in “Olympic” form. At 46, the former swimming champion spoke in an interview with the magazine Gala on Thursday, November 7, on his declining sporting performances. “I don’t practice swimming as intensely as I used to,” explained the princess. When I was young, I trained very hard, I pushed myself physically. Today, I do it in moderation. Which is sometimes quite difficult because my nature is to break records, to win medals, to push my limits. Before adding: “At almost 47 years old, I can no longer do that… My body doesn't allow me to do it. My mind and heart could, but my body says no!”

She, who spent her adolescence training for the Olympic Games, now seems to accept these physical changes. “Nowadays, I have the impression that there is a search for physical perfection,” she declared in the columns of Gala. It is obviously inaccessible. Chasing eternal youth is an illusion. I just try to stay as young as possible in my heart and my mind.” The wife of Albert of Monaco also revealed that she continued to practice regular physical activity. Princess Charlene is keen on cycling, walking and, of course, swimming.

Charlene and Albert of Monaco share a passion for sport, which they try to pass on to their 10-year-old twins. “Sport is good for each of us, among the youngest, it develops flexibility, coordination, ease of understanding space,” declared the swimming champion during an interview with Point of view a few years ago. I of course encourage my children to do as much as possible. Jacques and Gabriella have a taste for physical activity.” Among the Grimaldis, the succession is assured.
