If you’re wondering why some plants have round holes, it’s probably the work of a leaf-cutter bee.
They need small pieces of leaves to cover and close their nests. One egg and some nectar go into each brood cell.
They bite the piece of leaf, and roll it between their legs to carry it.
Not all plants are suitable. Leafcutter bees prefer hard leaves, such as those of maple, beech or roses.
