In La Forclaz, in the canton of Vaud, last Saturday, enthusiastic volunteers reassembled the small rope school ski-lift, cleared the ski slopes and prepared the large ski lift for the winter.
Preparing the plates for winter: the ski lift is ready to operate.
The volunteers worked in good spirits.
Trees were felled to ensure the safety of the climb trail.

In La Forclaz, in the town of Ormont-Dessous, we love skiing. And it doesn’t matter if the village only has two ski slopes – one red and one blue – we’re already rubbing our mittens at the thought of sliding down them.
Other mid-altitude resorts are preparing to dismantle some of their installations, like Château d’Oex with the Monts-Chevreuils ski lift, as recently announced by “24 Heures”. But in La Forclaz, we are not yet thinking about this prospect: the agreement guaranteeing financing for the ski lift until the 2028-2029 season has just fallen.
Volunteers hard at work
On November 2, under beautiful sunshine, no less than twenty volunteers were present in the field to prepare everything before the hoped-for arrival of the first snow. And the volunteers spared no effort.
They felled trees that threatened to fall on the ascent slope, installed protective mattresses around the pylons to guarantee the safety of skiers, hung the plates and cleared the terrain so that skiing could take place without hindrance when the time came.
Time, again, to warm up the snow groomer after a long sleep, adjust the lights on the night slope and raise the small ski-lift for budding skiers and La Forclaz is ready for winter!
The day’s work ended in good humor, around a meal prepared by the owner of the Pont Baillif refreshment bar, which will be open during the ski season. All that’s missing is white gold.
