The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max were an opportunity for Apple to make some design changes. In addition to the introduction of a titanium chassis or more discreet borders around the screen, these two models have replaced the traditional switch to activate/deactivate silent mode with a simple press button.
Nicknamed Action button, when launched it provided quick access to the following functions:

- Magnifying glass ;
- Shortcut ;
- Accessibility.
A few months later, Apple allowed the application to be launched Translate thanks to the Action button, a more than practical addition for frequent travelers.
Although Shortcut allows you to do a plethora of things with a little tweaking, Apple decided with iOS 18 to offer new capabilities to the new button on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro.
The Apple firm has more precisely added a new section called Controlsbringing together actions available in the old control center, but also in its revamped version with iOS 18:

- Timer;
- Alarm ;
- Stopwatch;
- Homepage ;
- Maps;
- Dark mode;
- Scan a QR Code;
- Airplane mode ;
- Cellular data;
- Sharing the line ;
- Remote ;
- Tap to Cash (US only);
- Ring my Apple Watch.
9to5Mac explains in passing that the list should grow by the launch of the final version of iOS 18, given that Apple has opened the control center to third-party developers. They will thus be able to provide new commands linked to their applications, automatically accessible via the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Please note, this button should no longer be exclusive to Pro models in 2024. Rumors point to its deployment on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus at the start of the school year.
