On paper at least, Samsung does not modify the photo equipment of its Galaxy A15 5G. The Galaxy A16 5G is therefore equipped with a 50 Mpx main sensor accompanied by a wide-angle (f/1.8), while its ultra-wide-angle module is based on a 5 Mpx sensor. The third module visible on the back of the smartphone, capping at 2 Mpx, is dedicated to macro; suffice to say that it is very anecdotal. Some competitors, such as CMF's Phone 1, have opted for a different bias and focus on a single module, promising better quality here.
Module principal : 50 Mpx, f/1,8
In bright light, the South Korean smartphone doesn't do too badly. The sharpness is honorable, at least in the center of the image, even if we spot inaccuracies on the contours of the small elements – as evidenced by our color chips, which are not really round. On the other hand, as we approach the periphery of the scene, details lose sharpness. In good lighting conditions, the Galaxy A16 5G is around the average for smartphones in its price range.

In low light, there is significant smoothing which transforms many details into unflattering flat areas of color. The lack of precision is obvious in the center of the image, from a stronger on the outskirts. It's best not to expect too much from the device in low-light environments.

Mode 50 Mpx
The 50 Mpx mode is of little interest. Since smoothing takes precedence over the image, cropping is unattractive for shots in bright light. In low light, images are too noisy to be of real use.

Module ultra grand-angle : 5 Mpx, f/2,2
Definitely not a photographer, the Galaxy A16 5G does not compensate for the distortion caused by its ultra-wide-angle optics. If you want to immortalize urban landscapes, you risk seeing an unsightly deformation that competing smartphones choose to deal with, such as the Magic 6 Lite from Honor.
The image quality is obviously dependent on a 5 Mpx sensor that is a bit light in 2024. The colors tend to be saturated, the image lacks sharpness, although a little sharper than its competitor. In short, this module is reserved for occasional uses.

In low light, the image is littered with noise, details are erased and light sources strain the module. Difficult to be satisfied with the results obtained, even if we welcome the integration of an ultra wide-angle module at this price level.

Front module, portrait and video mode
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is equipped with the same front photo module as the Galaxy A15 5G, namely a 13 Mpx sensor associated with f/2 optics. As is often the case, the results are a little smooth and struggle to provide a controlled exposure. Portrait mode, while effective, cuts out unruly hair a little aggressively. On the video side, Samsung provides a minimum service with a 1080p sensor at 30 fps on the front and back.
