The release of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 range smartphones was as expected as it was feared, with the South Korean manufacturer taking its place as number one in the smartphone market. If we are not particularly worried about the Ultra model, this is less the case for the Samsung Galaxy S24. Certainly, it inaugurates the Galaxy AI functions based on artificial intelligence, but it has switched back to an Exynos processor on the European market. At the moment, it is possible to obtain this recent premium smartphone with more than 350 euros reduction.

What to remember about the Samsung Galaxy S24

  • A well-finished smartphone with a bright screen
  • Seven years of major updates!
  • One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI!
  • A very responsive fingerprint sensor

Instead of the usual 899 euros, the Samsung Galaxy S24 (128 GB) is now available on promotion at 541.27 euros at Boulanger thanks to a trade-in bonus of 150 euros and a refund offer of 100 euros.

Samsung Galaxy S24 at the best price?

A sustainable range that inaugurates Galaxy AI

Hold ? After years where the Samsung Galaxy S featured rounded edges, the South Korean manufacturer this time took inspiration from Apple’s iPhone and gave its Galaxy S24 flat edges. The premium effect is certainly undeniable, but it is a shame that Samsung is abandoning a characteristic that was its signature to follow a trend, especially since the handling becomes less pleasant. But the Samsung Galaxy S24 does not stand out thanks to its IP68 certification, its Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a very bright screen which approached a peak of 2,400 cd/m² during our test.

The South Korean giant has mainly highlighted the software part with, among other things, seven years of major updates. The Samsung Galaxy S24 is therefore on par with the Google Pixel 8 in terms of durability. But the Samsung Galaxy S24 range was especially eagerly awaited for the One UI 6.1 overlay which brings Galaxy AI and a whole host of features based on artificial intelligence. Translation of messages or oral conversations in real time, rearrangement of notes, Circle to Search, photo editing, there is plenty to do. The software part of the Galaxy S24 is impeccable.

A pretty good Exynos 2400, but not enough

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is, however, not free from flaws; the integration of an Exynos chip instead of a Snapdragon chip has in particular caused debate, especially since this specificity only concerns the European market. The Exynos 2400 of the Galaxy S24 is more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of the Galaxy S23, that’s a fact, but it is crushed by the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy S24. The performance is not perfect either, we expected better on Fortnite in Epic and 100% 3D resolution and the rather high consumption in intensive use.

With increasingly fierce competition in the photo sector, standing out becomes complicated and it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S24 is a little behind. Despite good brightness management and a lively colorimetric touch, frequent autofocus and sharpness problems spoil the shots from time to time. Finally, the 4,000 mAh battery is far from convincing due to a battery life of around a day as well as charging capped at 25 W and only 10 W wirelessly.
