Even if the MacBook Pros equipped with M4 chips display unrivaled power, there is still one aspect of their technical sheet that Apple could improve: their screen. Where the competition has long since moved on to OLED screens, the Californian is putting up resistance. But, as with the iPad Pros, which we tested before the summer, the switch is inevitable. So much so that a first deadline is emerging: 2026.

2026, the big year for MacBooks?

According to information from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, since corroborated by journalist Mark Gurman in his newsletter Power OnApple has a total reinvention of the MacBook Pro in its pipeline. This means several things: that the design of the brand’s laptops will drastically evolve (to make that ugly notch disappear, perhaps?). And that it will finally be time for MacBook Pros to make room for OLED screens.

Today, MacBook Pros, including the latest models unveiled last week, benefit from mini-LED screens. Although they are already very well made, OLED panels offer even more flamboyant colors and greater contrast. If Apple uses the same models as on its recent iPad Pros, we can indeed expect a fairly impressive visual experience.

At the same time, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman believes that finesse will be in the spotlight. Indeed, MacBook Pros are much thicker than MacBook Airs, for example. This is particularly due to the presence of fans in the former, whereas the latter rely on passive dissipation. According to him, Apple’s ambition is clear: “To create a class of products that will be the thinnest and lightest in their category within the entire industry. »

What about the Vision Pro then?

This is because we should not forget Apple’s other “computer”. Yes, the spatial computer, as the brand likes to call its mixed reality headset released this year.

As we know, the firm is working on several products simultaneously to expand its catalog. First there is a new iteration of the Vision Pro. According to Kuo, it will be equipped with the future M5 chip in order to reduce the performance gap that could separate it from more traditional Apple computers. This new cutting-edge model would be expected in 2025 according to the cross predictions of Kuo and Gurman.

The more affordable model… is falling behind. Originally expected next year, or in 2026, the standard Apple Vision would now be planned for 2027. In the meantime, however, it could be that Apple is exploring a rather unexpected avenue with connected glasses for iPhone. Like Meta and Ray-Ban glasses? Why not.
