Apple recalls faulty iPhones: what you need to know

Some iPhone 14 Plus models are said to be victims of a bug impacting the rear camera. Apple has launched an extensive repair program, here’s how to know if your iPhone is eligible for free repair.

It’s particularly rare for Apple to recall old, faulty iPhone models and for the company to carry out large-scale replacements. The last time was in 2021, with many iPhone 12s experiencing sound issues. The Cupertino company then launched a vast repair program for defective devices.

This time, certain iPhone 14 Plus are affected. Apple has been marketing it since 2022, but devices manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024 could suffer from a problem displaying the rear camera preview. By entering the serial number on the following website, you will be able to find out if your device is eligible for free repair.

If your iPhone 14 Plus is eligible, then you can either send it to Apple, go to an Apple Store or an authorized reseller to carry out the repair. In case you have already repaired your iPhone at your expense, Apple will offer you a refund. The firm ensures that eligible devices are covered for up to three years after the initial purchase date, provided of course that they were manufactured within the deadlines indicated above.
