A Vision Pro M5 in 2025?
A priori, Apple plans to release a new Vision Pro with an M5 chip for 2025which could well explain the cessation of production of the current generation. This is in fact what was announced Ming-Chi Kuo after surveying several companies in the Cupertino production chain.
As a reminder, the current Vision Pro is equipped with a M2 chip (which was released in 2022). In his latest report, Ming-Chi Kuo did not specify whether this update would introduce new features or design changes. But it is probably still a little early to have information.
For his part, Mark Gurman also heard of a chip upgrade
for the Vision Prowithout however specifying whether this would happen in 2025 or not. However, he believes that Apple would continue to work on a cheaper version whose release date is just as uncertain.
According to the journalist of Bloombergthe Californian firm intends to devote a significant part of its Research and Development budget to its new Visual Intelligence project. The latter would obviously include the Vision Pro, but also a possible entry-level model, lighter glasses. Or even a project for AirPods equipped with infrared sensors which would make it possible to detect/analyze certain gestures or trigger actions or functions (for example taking a photo, like the Apple Watch remote control).
During this time, Apple reportedly delays production of a cheaper version of the Vision Pro beyond 2027. In practice, the price of the current Vision Pro (from 3,500 dollars / 3,999 euros) is far too high to appeal to a wide audience and the applications are much fewer than expected (the developers being relatively unmotivated by the prospects of the headset ). In short, a cheaper version could be a better solution for Apple.
In any case, we would have to wait several years, because these products would not a priori be launched before 2027. After all, Apple gave up on the Apple Car after billions invested and ten years of research. Also, it is not a pair of glasses or headphones that would pose a problem for him.
Connected glasses?
Finally last baby in gestation: connected glassesMeta Ray-Ban type. But the latter would not really be autonomous and would rely on the iPhone (a bit like the Apple Watch).
Apple is seriously considering a device that leverages the iPhone and could be used as an accessory for watching movies. It's something that would roughly resemble the glasses offered by companies like Xreal. The upside for Apple is that it would solidify the iPhone as the center of its product ecosystem and offer something that could be a much more popular option than the $3,500 Vision Pro.
