The Society of Horticulture, Ornithology and Ecology of Charlevoix is organizing a conference under the theme “Understanding plastic pollution and how to become a vector of change”. It will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the Saint-Irénée municipal hall.
This theme will undoubtedly answer the current questions that concern a good number of people about this reality of the 21e century.
The speaker will be Laurence Martel, plastic pollution coordinator for the Blue Organization for many years. She is mobilizing on the shores of Eastern Canada to fight against plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is pervasive and profoundly affects our coastlines and local environment.
During this conference, participants will be able to learn more about the current state of this issue on Canadian soil, the major impacts on our ecosystems and the challenges to be met. Ms. Martel will also give them the means to take concrete action to curb this environmental threat.
Over the past four years, Laurence Martel has traveled the coastline of the St. Lawrence hydrographic system to better understand the state of plastic pollution. She met Anne-Marie Asselin, director of the Blue Organization (OB) at a cleaning activity. It was a friendly and professional crush that made him want to get involved in the Blue Organization, we specify in a press release.
Admission is free for SHEC members and costs $10 for non-members.
Since the number of places is limited, people interested in participating must reserve their place with Jocelyne C. Brouillette, by email at [email protected] or by telephone at 418-452-3444.
