Anthropic launched the beta of a macOS version to use its Claude assistant without going through its website. Following the iOS and Android versions, Anthropic’s latest AI model — Claude 3.5 Sonnet — can be queried from a macOS (or Windows) application. No need to necessarily be on an Apple Silicon Mac, Claude for Mac runs on Intel.

If you don’t have an account, registration is free, either with an email address or by using your Google account, too bad you can’t identify yourself with your Apple account. Then use is free with some limits compared to the paid plan at $20 per month.

The software interface is in English, but it can be accessed in French. In relation to certain questions relating to current events, Claude emphasizes that his base stops at April 2024.
