In the world of instant messaging, Telegram occupies a significant place, since it is the fifth most used in the world. The application has managed to prevail against many of its rivals, such as Signal, and competes with an undisputed leader: WhatsApp, owned by the social network giant Meta.

But to maintain such a rank, the application must constantly innovate and be enriched with new features. Telegram’s latest update, for example, looks at animated reactions. New favorites of messaging applications, Google Messages in mind, these effects allow you to send a short animation to a recipient, who will be able to benefit from it the next time they open the conversation.

In the case of Telegram, the effect is selectable when you write a message: just hold down the send button, then select the emoji most suitable for the situation. Free accounts will have access to six different reactions, while Premium subscribers will be able to choose from over a hundred possibilities, including some corresponding to Premium stickers.

On Telegram, during private conversations, it is now possible to send messages with animated effects that are triggered when the recipient opens the chat.

More clarity and less friction

Aesthetically, the Durov brothers’ application becomes more readable. With this new update, users will be able to choose the location of captions when sharing media. When sending, they can be placed at the top or bottom of messages by holding down the send button. In the same category, long quotes can be shortened further, in order to take up a little less space in conversations.

Telegram also presents itself as a social network in its own right, and we are therefore not surprised to see new features appear from time to time in this area. Here, search based on hashtags is in the spotlight, allowing corresponding messages to be displayed in a conversation, but also in public channels. In the latter case, the results can be displayed as a scrolling stream of messages, or as a more compact list for easier navigation.

Finally, interaction with shared phone numbers becomes smoother. With one click, it is possible to add a new contact, send them a message or call them, reducing the number of steps needed to get there.
