Remember, during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Rebellion, mainly known for the Sniper Elite franchise, lifted the veil on Atomfall, a game from a completely new intellectual property. The company is speaking out again today to reveal more about this title which will debut next year.

Atomfall, developed by Rebellion, is a first-person action survival game that immerses players in a post-apocalyptic version of 1960s England. The story takes place in a quarantine zone located in the fictional district of Wyndham, five years after the nuclear disaster inspired by the real fire at the Windscale nuclear plant in 1957. However, in Atomfall, the mysteries surrounding this disaster far exceed reality, and players will have to uncover the dark secrets of the atomic factory and the surrounding region to hope to survive.
In this desolate world, survivors will face several dangerous factions, including military forces tasked with maintaining quarantine, equipped with robots armed with machine guns and flamethrowers. However, this law enforcement force is increasingly suspected of having murky motivations. While exploring, players will also discover the former facilities of the British Atomic Research Division (BARD), whose real activities go well beyond simple atomic research. Robots still patrol these facilities, providing a constant threat to intruders.
In addition to armed factions, players will also have to deal with mysterious cults that have emerged in the five years following the disaster. Armed with crude weapons like bows, cricket bats, and axes, these cultists view all who come near as enemies. They have settled in forest areas and abandoned castles, where they practice disturbing rituals. Players will need to use discretion to investigate these dark and dangerous locations.
Survival requires scavenging and crafting weapons and tools, from pistols and submachine guns to metal detectors and flashlights to explore the perilous environments. Areas most contaminated by the disaster, such as caves covered in glowing plants and toxic mist, are home to zombie-like creatures that roam the fog, ready to attack at any moment.
Atomfall will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC in March 2025. It will integrate Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass upon launch. It is also this same year that Sniper Elite Resistance will be released, also in the Microsoft service.
