Disney+ has announced a new price increase which concerns all European users. This new price increase concerns more specifically the Standard offer and the Premium offer.

Last August, Disney+ announced a price increase for its American users. Unsurprisingly, it is now the turn of all European users to be affected by a price increase.

If we refer to the conditions of use of the Disney+ Netherlands page, the new prices apply to all new subscribers since October 17, 2024. As for those who already have a subscription, they will see a increase in the price of their subscription from November 21.

Here are the price increases announced:

  • The Standard plan increases to 9.99 euros per month, an increase of 1 euro.
  • The Premium plan increases to 13.99 euros per month, an increase of 2 euros.

Note that the subscription with advertisements, billed at €5.99 per month, has not seen any price increase. The reason? Disney+ is aligned with Netflix, which in certain countries offers a subscription with advertisements at €5.99 per month. Disney+ therefore simply aligns with the competition’s prices. However, as you will have understood, if Netflix one day decides to increase the price of its subscription with advertisements, Disney+ will follow suit. And suffice to say that the streaming platform at the red N is seriously considering increasing its prices again in 2025.

Regardless, this new price increase is significant. In the space of 5 years, Disney+ has almost doubled its prices (as a reminder, the launch price of the Standard offer was set at 6.99 euros per month.). Added to this is the end of account sharing which was recently implemented. From now on, Disney+ users must pay an additional 3 euros in order to be able to share their account with a loved one.

It now remains to be seen whether Disney+ users are ready to take out their wallets in order to continue to benefit from the streaming platform’s services.
