As its release quickly approaches, communication around Elden Ring DLC is accelerating. After a first trailer to reveal first images, this second trailer focuses on the story with a beautiful CGI cinematic.

That’s it. After an announcement with a simple artwork, then a trailer to present images of the DLC in game, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is revealed again, this time through a CGI trailer. Through this cinematic of approximately three minutes, we discover the context which leads us to dive back into Entre-Terre on June 21.

A superb cinematic typical of From Software

In this three-minute video, the From Software teams reveal the context and events that precede our adventure in Shadow of the Erdtree. And obviously, if you haven’t understood the lore of the base game, what follows will seem complicated to you. It all starts with Miquella, the twin brother of the famous Malénia, the hardest boss of the original game of which he is rarely present and we understand why in this DLC. We discover him walking with his long golden hair, pulling on golden links between two giant walls which seem to be made of humans or monsters.

From his act followed a terrible war with fire giants and armies of soldiers led by Messmer, the antagonist who appears at the center of the cover of this DLC and who seems at the heart of the adventure as a target to be killed. His war is described as a “purge without grace or honor” as he destroyed by flames an entire city which could be the capital, Leyndell, without anyone being sure. While the tyrant massacres his enemies and the World Tree is in a sorry state, everything seems to rest on Miquella the Clement thanks to her blinding power that the players will follow as the end of the trailer seems to indicate.

A trailer full of mysteries

It is therefore a trailer rich in information and lore that Bandai Namco and From Software offer us in this cinematic. But of course, all this is done in a fairly indirect way and full of references as From Software knows how to do so well which will be the subject of numerous dissections in the hours and days to come, we have no doubt. In all cases, the trailer ends with the presentation of the collector’s edition which notably includes a figure of the famous Messmer. Now, there is only one month left before we get our hands on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on June 21 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
