Garmin connected watches: which smartwatch model to choose in 2024?

Just a month ago, the first rumors already mentioned the existence of new Fenix 8 models, a few days after the launch of its new range. This first information thus indicated the existence of a Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 47 mm potentilla, a Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 51 mm and, above all, a Garmin Fenix 8 microLED.

It is this latest model of Garmin watch that interests us today since, this week, it was once again in the news. The site Gadgets & Wearables has in fact obtained, from a virtual dial developer, a new reference to a Garmin Fenix 8 MicroLED.

When putting its dial online to offer it for download, the developer would have had access to a list of compatible watches, including both the old Epix Pro Gen 2 and the Fenix 8 Amoled, but also a “ Fenix 8 MicroLED “. In addition to this model, the list also mentions a Tactix 8 Amoled, offered in 47 and 51 mm. Traditionally, Garmin’s Tactix range incorporates the characteristics of Fenix watches, but with functions more geared towards the military. Logically, the Tactix 8 Amoled would therefore be based on the Fenix 8.

A screen technology never before seen on watches

As for the Fenix 8 microLED, the information is still scant with the exception of the mention of the screen technology. As a reminder, microLED takes some of the advantages of Amoled, with strong contrasts and bright colors, but allows increased brightness and a better lifespan of the panel.

Garmin would thus be the first manufacturer of connected watches to offer this new display technology, while we know that Apple is also working on it for its next generations of Apple Watch.

For the moment, we still do not know when Garmin plans to officially announce its Fenix 8 microLED. However, the mention of this future model suggests a presentation in the coming months.
