Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise lance la solution OmniFabric

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s OmniFabric solution meets these new requirements by combining the strengths of SPB (Shortest Path Bridging), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) and EVPN (Ethernet Virtual Private Network) within one system Single Operating System (AOS) with built-in automation capabilities.

This innovation greatly facilitates the implementation of the ‘Zero Trust’ approach with micro and macro network segmentations. It simplifies network operations, improves performance, ensures unified and simplified implementation of security policies and optimized connectivity in various environments.

With the convergence of the IT and OT – Operations Technologies – domains, companies are facing new challenges to connect a growing number of IoT devices with a very high level of security. We observe this trend both in indoor environments such as intelligent buildings, as well as outdoors and in sometimes complex industrial environments – nuclear power plants, road networks, public utility infrastructures for example.

Also available on rugged switches, OmniFabric technology offers an end-to-end solution and brings the expertise of the IT world to the OT field.

Major features and benefits:

Multi-technology integration: OmniFabric is the only solution on the market to support SPB, MPLS and EVPN within the same AOS operating system, providing businesses with unmatched network flexibility, performance and reliability.

Strengthened cybersecurity: OmniFabric makes it easy to implement robust cybersecurity mechanisms to protect data integrity and block unauthorized network access with a “Zero Trust” approach and automatic micro-segmentation.

Built-in automation: Advanced automation features streamline network operations, reducing manual intervention, minimizing human error, and simplifying the use of diverse technologies.

Secure IoT connectivity: IoT devices are automatically detected, classified and stored in virtual segments. This allows OT teams to connect devices to the network without increasing the risk of cyberattacks. These capabilities are natively integrated into ALE solutions.

Maximum flexibility and interoperability: particularly in industrial environments where equipment from multiple suppliers coexists. OmniFabric scales with any underlying architecture, from the edge to the data center, providing more choice and freedom for network teams and eliminating vendor lock-in.

Simplified operations: ease of learning and management of the different protocols all integrated into the same AOS and controlled from the same interface, enriched with AI-based analyses. Particularly interesting for companies with limited resources.

Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO): With no additional costs, simplicity in acquisition and learning, and unified management via Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista®, OmniFabric offers a lower total cost of ownership.

Customizable solutions: OmniFabric offers the choice of several technologies to be used depending on the area or architecture – SPB in campus networks, EVPN in Data Centers and MPLS in metropolitan area networks (MAN).
