Podcasts are on the rise and their audience figures are enough to make all traditional media salivate: last year, there were 270,000 more Swiss people than in 2022 listening to them, at least occasionally. And in total, there are almost 3 million. But only 400,000 of them tune into a podcast every day. Although the media’s growth potential is enormous, it is still seeking its place between mainstream brands and social networks.

It is to highlight this abundance that is still too poorly exploited that a team of enthusiasts is launching a festival dedicated to podcasts this Friday in Lausanne. On the program: assembly workshops, distinguished guests, children’s activities and trendy afterworks. All broadcast live for a month on FM 90.4 in the Vaud capital. “The podcast allows for more intimate and truer exchanges than television, and more in-depth than radio,” observes Marco, head of the non-profit association which oversees the event. On “Podkast.fm”, we will talk in particular about the history of women artists, psychedelic sciences, etc.”

According to him, the adoption of podcasts by all segments of the population will take time, but it will come. “Basically, the podcast is a consumer good with a democratic vocation, like the press,” he continues. Ultimately, I would see it supported as such.”
