Cologny remains the wealthiest municipality in the canton of Geneva, but a new addition is finding a place on the podium, until now completed by Anières and Genthod: Corsier bursts into third place, between the two aforementioned municipalities, while she was “only” ninth (out of forty-five) last year. The increase in tax revenue largely explains this rise.

As a reminder, the 2024 municipal financial capacity index, set this Wednesday by the Council of State, is constructed on the basis of four data relating to the years 2020, 2021 and 2022: income in relation to the number of inhabitants; in relation to the number of students in municipal schools; and in relation to the importance of the public domain; Finally, the rate of additional centimes is taken into account, i.e. the height of the municipal tax.

Despite its first place, Cologny sees its index fall (556 against 620 in 2023). That of Anières, second, remains stable (339 against 337). That of Corsier makes a significant jump (276 against 168). While that of Genthod, who fell from the podium, fell back (265 against 302).

At the bottom of the ranking are the same three municipalities from last year, but in a different order: Avully (41), Chancy (39) and Aire-la-Ville (39).
