iPhone SE 4: goodbye to the Home button

Within Apple’s smartphone ranges, the iPhone SE occupies a special place – as the acronym indicates “SE” (Special Edition). The principle: each iteration takes the design and characteristics of a flagship model – and is sold at a more affordable price.

Thus, the iPhone SE (2022) offers a good value for money – and remains appreciated for its compactness. However, its design, directly inherited from l’iPhone 8East somewhat dated. Also, its renewal is particularly expected by those wanting to take advantage of the iOS ecosystem without breaking the bank too much.

According to certain information relayed by Bloomberg, this new iPhone SE (4th generation) would take up the stylistic codes of the iPhone 14 – and would therefore put an end to the (famous) “Home” button. European regulations require, it would swap the Lightning port for one port USB-C.

In technical terms, the iPhone SE 4 would have a screen OLED 6.1 inch of 1170 x 2532 pixels. A notch would allow secure unlocking via Face ID – la Dynamic Island restant a priori reserved for more high-end models. The whole would be animated by a A18 chip latest generation, coupled with 8 Go to RAM. Or the same configuration as the recent iPhone 16. Finally, it would be the first iPhone to integrate a modem 5G entirely designed by Apple for Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS.

A single photo sensor?

Until now, the different iPhone SEs had a distinctive feature: their single dorsal photo sensor. And the future iPhone SE 4 would be no exception to the rule.

Concretely, he would inherit the main goal of the iPhone 15. For the record, the latter has a definition of 48 Mpx. Thanks to the pixel binningimages are recorded in 12 or 24 Mpx. Apple would highlight the zoom « virtuel » x2, the device being able to crop directly into the image, with limited loss of quality.

On the other hand, ultra wide angle lens point on the horizon. A radical way to say the least to prevent this new model from overshadowing the more premium. At the front, we would find a sensor of 12 Mpx for the front camera. At this time, video specifications are uncertain – although it is likely that the iPhone SE 4 will film in 4K 60p and in Full HD 240p.

An iPhone 17 Air in 2015?

At the same time, some rumors point to the arrival of a future (and hypothetical) iPhone 17 Air. This model would replace the “Plus” model, and would bridge the gap between the “classic” iPhone 17 et l’iPhone 17 Pro. Why such a name change? Because this iPhone 17 Air would put more emphasis on the design et the screenin order to propose a model more balanced.

According to some indications, this model would also benefit from a thinner chassislike the iPad Air and MacBook Air. Concretely, it would benefit from a screen of 6.55 incheswith a refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz – today reserved for Pro and Pro Max models. And, like the iPhone SE 4, it would only be entitled to a single photo sensor.

iPhone SE 4 pricing and availability

The launch of l’iPhone SE 4 would be planned for the spring 2025. The next iPad Air should also be revealed at the same time.

In terms of prices, the current iPhone SE (2022) is offered from €529 (with 64 GB of storage only). However, some analysts are considering a slight price increase. So the iPhone SE 4 would display around €600. Either some €369 less than the iPhone 16 unveiled last September.

In any case, we will have to wait a few more months before discovering the next affordable model of the Bitten Apple.
