After many years of rumors, the third generation Apple Pencil is finally official. This iPad stylus is now available. It recharges by USB-C, suitable for the identical port of headed tablets. The new edition differs from the previous ones in particular by its compatibility with the iPad Pro OLEDs which have also just been released.
Apple offers the Pencil Pro 149 euros. It is possible to pre-order the product today, for a release date of May 15, 2024.
What’s new with the Apple Pencil Pro?
Among the changes made to this new stylus, Apple explains that it has notably improved pressure sensitivity. A new gesture has also appeared with this connected pencil, to control it. All you have to do is squeeze the slender body between your fingers to trigger an action.
Pairing is done via Bluetooth, with its 5.3 generation, while wireless charging is offered to those who have compatible hardware. A magnetic attachment is also included, allowing you to always carry the stylus with you, when it is attached to the chassis of your iPad.
Apple also specifies that the Pencil Pro offers us a pixel-perfect precision, with very low latency. The device should therefore be very popular with graphic designers and other touch screen designers. Note, moreover, that the device is also sensitive to inclination, and that a touchpad installed on the edge also allows you to control the system by touch.
That’s not all: the stylus includes a gyroscope which allows it to take rotations into account. So, by turning the stylus on itself when drawing for example, you can quickly change brushes.
Finally, a new haptic engine is required to improve sensations when carrying out certain actions.
