Once again, Morocco asserts its place on the international innovation scene, illustrating the excellence and dynamism of scientific research. The Mohammadia School of Engineering (EMI), attached to the Mohammed V University of Rabat, made an impression during IWA Innovation Week 2024 by winning 10 gold medals and the Innovation Prize. This success was achieved by a team of researchers led by Professor Hassan Ammor, director of the EMI Center for Technological Innovation.

This international event, which was held online from September 2 to 8, 2024, brought together 178 inventors from 23 countries. Participants had the opportunity to present their innovative projects, aimed at transforming ideas into concrete solutions. Among the flagship achievements, the invention of a non-ionizing intelligent scanner for the detection of breast cancer, developed by Professor Ammor and his team, was nominated for the Grand Prix de l’Innovation, highlighting its potential impact on public health.

Approached by Hespress FR, Hassan Ammor confirms to us thatclose ” having collected dozens of gold medals during the IWA 2023 in the major international competitions of Las Vegas, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Seattle, my team of doctors and brilliant researchers and me, Hassan Ammor, have once again raised the colors of Morocco high« .

In this sense, our speaker emphasizes that “ this participation in the IWA 2024 International Inventors and Innovation Competition, organized from September 2 to 8 and bringing together 178 inventors from 23 countries, was crowned by the obtaining of 10 gold medals, 8 Innovation Masters, and the prestigious Global Ambassador of Innovation Award. These distinctions honor five innovative projects that are making a significant impact on a global scale, according to international experts« .

Among these remarkable achievements, we include:

  1. A non-ionizing, contactless, efficient and low-cost intelligent scannerdedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, a revolutionary advance that could transform healthcare and contribute to the fight against this global scourge.
  2. An intelligent antenna system in micro-cellular technology to combat exam fraud, a strategic innovation to preserve the integrity of our education systems and the value of our diplomas.
  3. A platform for detecting ischemic heart diseases from the ECG, using artificial intelligence to help cardiologists analyze results more quickly and accurately.
  4. A quad-band patch antenna original for the new generation of mobile phones, designed to minimize the thermal effect of GSM on the head and hands, providing a solution to concerns related to the impacts of electromagnetic waves.
  5. A multi-band antenna arrayproviding better analysis of the human eye model and reducing the risks associated with cell phone radiation.

This is not only a victory for Morocco, but a significant contribution to science and humanity. These innovative technologies are not only meeting today’s challenges, but are also shaping the future of healthcare, telecommunications and education.

This technological innovation is a key to solving some of the biggest challenges of our time, he notes. Moreover, ” this work is not limited to a national framework; they provide world-class solutions, demonstrating the capacity of technology to improve the lives of individuals and meet the Sustainable Development Goals“. Experts say that artificial intelligence, an area in which these researchers excel, could accelerate our progress towards 80% of the global Sustainable Development Goals.

In addition to the 10 Gold Medals, EMI also received 8 Master of Innovation Certificates, thus affirming its position as a leader in the field of innovation in Morocco. The recognition didn’t stop there: Professor Ammor was also honored with the prestigious Global Innovation Ambassador Award for his significant contribution to global innovation.

« Our participation in IWA 2024 demonstrates not only the excellence of our researchers, but also EMI’s commitment to contributing to technological solutions that respond to current societal challenges.said Professor Ammor during the awards ceremony.

IWA Innovation Week 2024 was a true hub of ideas, attracting the attention of technology enthusiasts and innovators across the world. The event highlighted the groundbreaking contributions of inventors, fostering an exchange of ideas crucial to the advancement of science and technology.
