Qualified alongside the Genevans Romain Jacques and AsunaSanchi, the Friborg streamer Yannex is preparing to compete this weekend in its very first ZLAN, the famous multigaming competition from the French Zerator. The “Trackmania” pro takes stock before the start of the tournament, which will bring together 198 players in Montpellier (F).

Yannex, what made you want to participate in ZLAN this year?

It takes me a lot out of my comfort zone, and that’s why I’m getting started. I’m very good on “Trackmania”, I have my community, my little habits, but I wanted to shake things up a little. The ZLAN is a very good opportunity to do so, while having visibility. And it’s fun for me to test my abilities and my learning speed on other games.

What games do you master best, and what are your pet peeves?

I love “Celeste”, I spent a lot of time on the speedrun of the game. Otherwise I like “Trials Rising”, which is quite similar to “Trackmania”, and I went all in on “Slopecrashers” . Conversely, I have never played “LoL”, unlike many participants. Same for “Starcraft”, it’s not really my thing. (Laugh.)

Are you approaching the tournament in a more fun or competitive state of mind?

A bit of both. I’m taking it easy, hoping to put in a good performance, and the results will follow if the stars are aligned. The format does a lot, too: typically, there can be a round with my three worst games, and I’m eliminated.

Besides you, who do you see in the final top 3?

If I have to give names, I would go for Leaf, who is very strong in all games. During his streams, we see that he is still way ahead. I would also say Nagatow, who also trains a lot. And Lockness, for the double.
