The Motorola Razr 50s is revealed before its official launch

After the launch of the folding flip-format smartphones Motorola Razr 50 and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, the brand is preparing to offer a more affordable model, the Razr 50s. Like all smartphones that will be released, it was tested on the Geekbench platform which, remember, makes its results public.

One of the main pieces of information revealed by Geekbench concerns the processor that will equip the Razr 50s. Unlike some of its high-end predecessors which used Qualcomm chips, this new model opts for a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor. This choice is synonymous with positioning in the mid-range model segment.

Indeed, the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC which is also found in the realme 12+ is known to offer a good balance between performance and energy efficiency. It should allow the Razr 50s to offer satisfactory performance for most daily uses, while maintaining a more affordable price than the brand’s high-end models.

Promising performance

The results obtained by the Razr 50s on Geekbench are encouraging. If we are to believe the capture relayed by the 91mobiles site, the smartphone recorded a score of 1005 points in single-core and 2473 points in multi-core. These numbers, while only representing one aspect of a device’s overall performance, indicate that the Razr 50s should be able to efficiently handle most common tasks and even some more demanding applications.

Note that these scores are obtained with an 8 GB RAM configuration, which should ensure a smooth user experience, especially when it comes to multitasking. This amount of RAM has become a standard in the mid-range segment and should suit the majority of users.

A clean software experience

The Motorola Razr 50s will run Android 13. Additionally, Motorola is known for offering a close to stock Android experience, with some brand-specific software additions. We should find this philosophy within the Razr 50s with a clean and responsive user interface.

The Razr 50s should be positioned at a lower price than the Razr 40, thus expanding the range of folding smartphones offered by Motorola unlike Samsung which only offers a single model. This strategy could allow the brand to reach a wider audience, attracted by the innovative concept of folding smartphones but who have struggled to take the plunge until now due to their high prices.

It remains to be seen at what price it will actually come out and if it will be available from us.
