The Apple Event on May 7 will be “ different », it’s the organizer who says it. This could be explained in several ways, notably because the time changes from the time slot where keynotes are generally scheduled. The apple firm also explains that it has created something special » for the event. Is this the new OLED screen of the iPad Pro? Is this the third generation Apple Pencil? Probably not, because we do not recognize anything exceptional in these announcements. On the other hand, the presentation of the very first 12.9-inch iPad Air which is expected to take place during the conference could stick to this quality. The device could be powered by the M2 chip, already present under the hood of certain MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
To find out more, the appointment is set in about a week. More precisely, you will have to be present in front of your screen at 4 p.m. (Paris time). For comparison, normally, Apple keynotes are organized at 7 p.m. (Paris time). Among these, we can notably cite the possibility that Apple reveals the release date of its mixed reality headset for the European market. What other announcements are expected?
During the keynote Let Loose, Apple could also unveil a new Magic Keyboard. Under this name hides the wireless keyboard that the company dedicates to its iPad Air and iPad Pro, other more affordable models being intended for “classic” iPads and iPad mini.
The Magic Keyboard of 2024 should be reserved for iPad Pro models, perhaps the models M4 which seem to be on their way to May 7. Rumors suggest that the new keyboard will have a larger touchpad. The chassis could also be revisited, with aluminum.
Please note, moreover, that the 10.9-inch iPad Air should also be renewed. We would therefore be entitled to a sixth generation for the mid-range tablet, perhaps with a change in the layout of the front camera. This would thus be installed on one of the longest sides of the front panel, whereas today the sensor is installed in portrait mode. Ideal for answering a video call, when you use the screen horizontally with a keyboard, for example.
Several personalities expected during the keynote
During the conference organized by Apple, it is assumed that some of its most senior executives could take the floor to present new products for iPads. As it is rumored that features with artificial intelligence will be there, we imagine that the CTO (technical director), namely Craig Federighi, will present them personally. Of course, as is often the case, it is Tim Cook who should open and then close the ball.
The CEO is also expected at the turning point tomorrow, because that is when Apple will publish its new financial results. These cover the period from the beginning of January to the end of March, and will also be commented on, as part of an exchange with investors, by Luca Maestri. This is the CFO of the three trillion dollar group, in other words its financial director.
