“The idea is to understand what is possible or not”… the promotion of scientific culture on the Decazeville community program

the essential
As part of its 2024-2025 cultural season, Decazeville community is highlighting scientific culture, with the aim of bringing knowledge and understanding to as many people as possible. Through these events, renowned guests will provide popularization.

Democratize science. This is the desire of Decazeville community as part of its 2024-2025 cultural season. “The idea is to understand what is possible or not.” And for that, nothing better than popularization. On the program, a play, performed by Vertical Détour, a company directed by Frédéric Ferrer, and which is entitled “The rabbit problem”.

The pitch: a bouquet that asks “interesting questions” about the world around it. Questions about Homo sapiens, ecology, viruses, but also about the origin of this animal and its conditions, take place on stage. This piece represents the 7th part of “The Atlas of the Anthropocene”, a cartographic collection of the major upheavals of the world.

But this is not a first for Vertical Détour. The cultural service of Decazeville community has already welcomed the troupe with its show “De la morue”, in 2020, which was “a great success”. The show will take place on Friday, October 4, at the Yves Roques space, located at 58 rue Cayrade in Decazeville. Admission is free and accessible from 12 years old.

Learning through cult films

For this scientific section, the evenings organized with the association “Carrefour des sciences et des arts” are back. On the program, the screening of the film Avatar will be offered, accompanied by a distinguished guest. Roland Lehoucq, astrophysicist at the Sarclay Atomic Energy Commission, will enlighten the spectators on what science fiction presents.

“We already did it last year with Harry Potter, it worked very well. And this year, we are very happy to welcome Roland Lehoucq, who is a big name in his field, and who we have been trying to contact for a while. We can say that we are lucky.”

The screening will take place on Saturday, November 30, at 7 p.m., still at the Yves Roques space. Admission is free and accessible from 10 years old.
