Announced last June during the WWDC conference, watchOS 11 has been available in stable version since this Monday for all Apple Watch owners.

Top 5 new features in watchOS 11

This new version of watchOS obviously brings its share of new features for Apple smartwatches.

The photo dial

This is particularly the case with the new dials based on the user’s photos. Like the iPhone standby screen, these dials can be personalized by choosing the time font, with filters or transparency effects.

Cardio load

The update to watchOS 11 will also bring a new cardio load score accessible directly on the connected watch.

Concretely, this score will allow you to visualize, at a glance, whether your training is important enough to allow you to progress, whether it is too weak or whether, on the contrary, you risk injury due to overtraining.

Vital signs

Among the health measures, we can also note a new application, Vital Signs, which will accommodate several health data such as your heart rate, your respiratory rate, your blood oxygen level or your sleep time.

Activity Rings

This new version of watchOS will also include a long-awaited new feature for Apple Watch users: the ability to pause the Move, Workout and Stand rings.

In case of illness for example, you can decide to suspend their completion without losing your series of trophies. In the same way, you can occasionally modify your objectives for each of these rings.

Smart Scrolling

Finally, watchOS 11 also improves the Smart Scrolling feature of the Apple Watch. Now, the most relevant cards will be highlighted based on time, location, or weather.

To update your Apple Watch and install watchOS 11, you will first need to update your iPhone to iOS 18. Then, you have two choices.

From Apple Watch, you can:

  1. go to the Settings app;
  2. select the General option;
  3. go to Software Update;
  4. If an update to watchOS 11 is offered, simply select “Install.”

The update can also be done from the iPhone to which the Apple Watch is paired. To do this, simply:

  1. go to the Apple Watch app;
  2. Select the General option;
  3. Go to Software Update;
  4. Select the update to install.

Obviously, Apple’s latest watches are affected, but this will also be the case for all watches launched since the Apple Watch Series 6:

In addition, the new Apple Watch Series 10, already available for pre-order and whose first deliveries are expected on Friday, will be natively equipped with watchOS 11.
