In Switzerland, people took spectacular pictures on Tuesday evening. “I have just received reports of space debris that is flying across the entire sky,” wrote Jonas Schenker, president of the Schafmatt Observatory, to his colleague Jose De Queiroz. De Queiroz is the founder and operator of the observatory in Falera (GR).

As can be seen in several videos, a bright object with a tail moved through the sky at night. For De Queiroz, the case is clear: “A satellite has crashed,” he told this editorial team.

The stargazer speaks of an extraordinary incident. The fireball was clearly visible for around ten seconds. “You can then see how it splinters.” The event took place shortly after 9:27 p.m.

De Queiroz is not yet sure over which area the fireball appeared. “We will calculate it, but I cannot say yet.”
