Quote: “What developments does Ukraine have? Well, I thought it’s too early to speak about it but…The first Ukrainian ballistic missile has been successfully tested. I congratulate our defence industrial base on this.”

Details: Zelenskyy added that he could not disclose more details about the missile but decided to reveal this information so that society could appreciate “our people who work at defence companies 24/7”.

Background: Earlier Zelenskyy reported that on 24 August Ukrainian forces struck the Russian army with a new Ukrainian weapon, the Palianytsia drone missile, for the first time. [Palianytsia is a traditional Ukrainian bun; this word is difficult for Russians to pronounce correctly, so it is used as a shibboleth – ed.]
