“We went a little further than we should,” Garfield revealed in an interview.

It was already clear from the trailers that there would be intimate moments between two people in the soon-to-be released A24 film “We Live in Time”. In an interview, however, Andrew Garfield told how he and his fellow actress Florence Pugh had to film a sex scene that apparently became too erotic even for the crew members involved. Cameraman Stuart Bentley is said to have turned away in the middle of the two’s activities – one can only speculate whether out of shame or consideration.

“We didn’t hear a ‘cut’”

Speaking to 92NY, Garfield recalled a “very intimate, passionate sex scene” with Pugh on a closed set: “The scene becomes passionate the way we choreographed it,” he said, “and we go a little bit further, than we should because we didn’t hear a ‘cut’ and it felt safe. And we were like, ‘OK, we’ll just move on to the next thing and keep going.'”

The lack of instructions led to a dynamic of its own between the actress and the actor, which at some point made her suspicious: “At a certain point we both said telepathically to each other, ‘This definitely feels like a longer take.’ … I look up and there’s Stuart and our sound guy in the corner. Stuart has the camera at his side and is turned against the wall.” However, the mime did not reveal what happened next.

What is “We Live in Time” about?

After she hits him with the car, the cook Almut and the recently divorced Tobias get closer in the hospital. A love affair begins, from which a daughter is born. But soon the family’s life is shaken by a terrible diagnosis for Almut.
