Napoli’s plan to sabotage Kolo Muani’s Juventus deal

While Randal Kolo Muani has just signed with Juventus, Napoli tried everything to sabotage the deal.

Recruited for 90 million euros at the very end of the 2023 summer transfer window by the Saint-Germain, Randal Kolo Muani was eagerly awaited among the Parisians. The French striker had shone the previous season for Frankfurt, and this transfer was supposed to allow him to reach a new milestone. However, with the arrival of Luis Enrique, he failed to convince. After a first season concluded with 12 goals and only 2 this seasonhis future at PSG seemed compromised.

Randal Kolo Muani was not part of the Spanish coach’s planswho preferred Goncalo Ramos, or even a winger in his position. Looking to get back on track, Thiago Motta’s Juventus has shown keen interest. After weeks of negotiations, the player finally officially joined the Turin club on loan. Behind the scenes, however, Napoli had tried to put pressure on Paris Saint-Germain to slow down the transaction. Selon the Republic, Naples hoped to prevent the player from playing the match against them on January 25. Bad news for the Neapolitan club, the operation was finally concluded on time.

A friendly transaction

With only 14 matches played for a total of 453 minutes (equivalent to 5 full matches), this loan is crucial for the future of Randal Kolo Muani. Thiago Motta ardently wanted to integrate him into Juventus to strengthen his offensive sectorf. The key to the deal was the agreement between Juventus coach and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfiwho maintain good relations.

At the start of the negotiations, Nasser contacted Scanavino, president of Juventus, “as if to seal a friendship” between the two clubs. The transaction was concluded in a few hours, which did not please Napoli.
