Dante Vanzeir is on his way out. The 26-year-old striker is moving towards a return to Belgium.
For several days, Dante Vanzeir has been flirting with the management of La Gantoise. His transfer is about to materialize: according to Sacha Tavolieri, the short-lived Red Devil will take the plane tonight to finalize his contract with the Buffalos.
The operation is entering its final phase, accelerated by the departure of Wouter Vrancken. The former Ghent coach would have been one of the factors slowing down the file, the field is now clear.
The association between the two men had not been a real success in Mechelen. Vanzeir had been hired there by Genk, when Vrancken was the KV coach. He started the striker in the first part of the season before removing him completely from the team. A few months later, it exploded on the side of Union Saint-Gilloise.
-Vanzeir’s fifth Belgian club
The New York Red Bulls paid five million to recruit him from the Union two years ago. According to Het Nieuwsblad, the American club will only recover part of this sum, with Vanzeir entering the last year of his contract.
It is therefore a profile quite similar to that of Max Dean who will arrive at the Planet Group Arena. Ghent were looking for a striker following the injury of their English player until the end of the season.
